In this part you create the empty Marketing governance model. Every field, picklist, and taxonomy you add in the next parts goes into it. It takes three short steps, and you need admin access on the account. For the map of what you’re building, see the tutorial overview.

How it works

A governance model holds definitions: fields, picklists, and taxonomies. It holds no campaign rows, no submissions, and no records. Those live in a workspace, which you create in Part 7, once the model has something to put in it. At the end of this part the model is empty. For more, see the governance models reference.

Steps

1

Open the new governance model flow

In the sidebar, click the + next to Governance Models. On the next page, click Start from scratch rather than a template. On a brand-new account, Terminus Hub opens a welcome screen instead of the dashboard, and there is no sidebar yet. Click Build it by hand there. It opens the same form as Start from scratch.
2

Name it Marketing

The Name field starts as Untitled Governance Model. Replace it with Marketing.Governance model names are unique per account. If your account already has a model named Marketing, pick another name, such as Marketing Tutorial, and use it wherever the tutorial says Marketing.
3

Create the governance model

Click Create Blank Governance Model. The new model opens on its Taxonomies page. Taxonomies, Fields, and Picklists are all empty. That is expected: the next parts fill them.If you ever want to start over, you can delete the model from its Settings page. Deleting it removes its fields, picklists, and taxonomies. See Delete a governance model.

Check your work

  • Marketing appears under Governance Models in the sidebar, with no fields, picklists, or taxonomies yet.

Next up

You have an empty Marketing governance model. In Part 2: Fields basics, you add the first three fields: Campaign Name, Launch Date, and Destination URL.
