# Part 7: Build the taxonomies and publish

> Build three taxonomies that each filter UTM Medium to one channel, publish the Marketing model, and create the US Team workspace with the forms assigned.

In this part the model becomes something your team can fill in. You build three taxonomies, `Email Campaigns`, `Social Campaigns`, and `Ad Campaigns`, and publish `Marketing`. Then you create the `US Team` workspace with the three taxonomies assigned. At the end you have three published forms in `US Team`, and each one offers only its own medium. It takes seven steps, the last one optional.

You need the twelve fields from [Part 6: Computed fields](/tutorial/06-computed-fields).

## How it works

One governance model holds all three forms. A taxonomy is a form. It takes some of the model's fields and puts them in order. A field placed on a taxonomy can carry settings that apply to that taxonomy only. The one you use here is the **Option filter**, which narrows the options a Dropdown field offers.

That is how one field serves three forms. `UTM Medium` is a single field on the `UTM Mediums` picklist, with three options: `email`, `social`, and `cpc`. You place it on all three taxonomies and give each its own filter. The Email Campaigns form offers only `email`, the Social Campaigns form only `social`, and the Ad Campaigns form only `cpc`. The picklist keeps all three options. The filter only narrows what the entry form offers, so anyone reading the picklist or the records still sees the full list. For the details, see [option filters](/reference/field-reference-overrides#filtering-dropdown-options).

Forms are built from the model's published revision, so you publish before anyone fills one in. People fill in the forms inside a workspace, which holds the submissions and records. A workspace takes submissions for the taxonomies assigned to it, so the last required step creates `US Team` with all three assigned.

The optional last step adds a filter at the workspace level. It stacks on each taxonomy's own filters, so the same three forms can serve several team workspaces, each limited to its own country.

## Steps

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create the Email Campaigns taxonomy">
    With the `Marketing` governance model open, click **Taxonomies** in the sidebar, then **Create new**. The **New Taxonomy** dialog opens. Enter `Email Campaigns` and click **Create**. The taxonomy editor opens.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the fields and filter the medium">
    Click **Add field**. The menu opens on **New Fields**, which lists field types and would create a new field, so click **Existing Fields** first, then pick the field. Add eleven fields this way, one at a time, in this order:

    `Destination URL`, `Goal`, `Country`, `Region`, `Launch Date`, `Campaign Name`, `UTM Medium`, `UTM Source`, `UTM Campaign`, `Tagged URL`, `Short URL`

    Leave out `QR Code`. Only the Social form gets one. The order is the taxonomy's field order, so it matters later if you paste rows into a grid.

    Now filter the medium. Click `UTM Medium` in the field list and open its **Taxonomy settings** tab. Under **Option filter**, click **Filter options**. Choose **Only specific options I choose**. Every option starts ticked. Untick `social` and `cpc`, so only `email` is left, and click **Save Filter**. The message "Option filter updated." confirms the filter is saved. Then click **Back** to close the field.

    Terminus Hub may ask "Leave without saving?" here. Click **Leave**. Your filter is already saved: the prompt is about the field's shared settings, and you did not change those. Back on the field list, the taxonomy saves as you go, so it has no separate save button.

    The filter covers `UTM Medium` only. It does not carry down to `UTM Source`, which keeps listing every source under whichever medium is picked. If someone later files an off-topic source under `email`, it appears on this form too.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the Social Campaigns taxonomy">
    You don't add the eleven fields again. You clone `Email Campaigns` and change what differs.

    Click **Taxonomies** in the sidebar. On the `Email Campaigns` row, click the **⋮** menu button and choose **Clone**. The dialog **Clone "Email Campaigns"** opens. In **Name**, replace `Email Campaigns Copy` with `Social Campaigns` and click **Clone**. The message `Cloned "Email Campaigns" as "Social Campaigns"` confirms it, and the copy opens in the taxonomy editor.

    The copy has the same eleven fields in the same order, each with the same required setting. It also has the same `UTM Medium` filter, so it still offers only `email`. It is not assigned to any workspace. You assign all three taxonomies when you create the workspace.

    Change the filter to `social`. Click `UTM Medium` in the field list and open its **Taxonomy settings** tab. Under **Option filter**, the button now reads "Showing 1 of 3 options". Click it. **Only specific options I choose** is already selected, with only `email` ticked. Untick `email`, tick `social`, and click **Save Filter**. Then click **Back**, and click **Leave** if Terminus Hub asks "Leave without saving?". Your filter is already saved.

    Last, add the QR code. Click **Add field**, then **Existing Fields**, and pick `QR Code`. It goes at the end of the field list. Only this form gets a QR code.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the Ad Campaigns taxonomy">
    Clone `Email Campaigns` again the same way: on the **Taxonomies** list, open its **⋮** menu, choose **Clone**, replace the name with `Ad Campaigns`, and click **Clone**. The copy opens in the taxonomy editor.

    Change its `UTM Medium` filter to `cpc`: untick `email`, tick `cpc`, and click **Save Filter**. Then click **Back**, and click **Leave** if Terminus Hub asks. Leave out `QR Code`.

    You now have one `UTM Medium` field on three forms, and each form offers only its own medium.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Publish the governance model">
    Every page of the governance model has a Draft/Publish bar at the top right: a status pill and a **Publish** button. This model has never been published, so the pill reads **Draft**.

    Click **Publish**. In the **Publish governance model** dialog, add a note if you like, such as `First release: three campaign taxonomies`, and click **Publish** again. The pill changes to **Up to date**.

    If you change fields or picklists later, publish again. New submissions get the change once it is published. See the [publish a revision guide](/guides/publish-revision).

    If this is the first governance model your account publishes, the model's pages also show a **Back to review** banner. It offers a one-screen review that publishes the model and connects every taxonomy to one workspace in a single step. This tutorial publishes from the designer instead, so you can ignore the banner.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the US Team workspace">
    In the sidebar, click the **+** next to **Workspaces**. The **Workspace name** field starts as `Untitled Workspace`. Replace it with `US Team`.

    Under **Assigned taxonomies**, click **Add Taxonomy** and pick `Email Campaigns`. Do the same for `Social Campaigns` and `Ad Campaigns`. Each one appears as a row in the table. Then click **Create**. The workspace's settings page opens, and the workspace can now take submissions for all three.

    Leave **Require review** off. It is set per taxonomy in each workspace, and it starts off. With it off, anyone who can edit a submission finalizes it directly. With it on, a submission waits in **Awaiting review** until a workspace manager approves it. If your plan supports it, you can turn review on later; see [Review and approve submissions](/guides/review-and-approve-submissions). For more on workspace setup, see [workspaces](/account/workspaces).

    Your account already has a workspace: every new account starts with one named `Main`. You can use `Main` instead: open it in the sidebar, click **Settings**, add the three taxonomies the same way, and click **Save changes**. The rest of the tutorial works the same. Workspace names are unique per account, so if `US Team` is taken, pick another name and use it throughout. Workspaces count toward a plan limit; see [Plans and limits](/reference/plans-and-limits).
  </Step>

  <Step title="(Optional) Limit US Team to US campaigns">
    <Note>If your plan supports workspace-level option filters, you can do this step. See [Plans and limits](/reference/plans-and-limits).</Note>

    This step is optional. It adds a workspace-level option filter to `Country`. The filter stacks on each taxonomy's own filters, so in this workspace `Country` offers only `us`, and `Region` then offers only the US regions.

    Stay on the US Team settings page. In the **Assigned taxonomies** table, the `Email Campaigns` row's **Field options** column reads "Taxonomy defaults". Click **Configure** on that row. A side sheet opens: "Field options for Email Campaigns". It lists the dropdown fields `Goal`, `Country`, `Region`, `UTM Medium`, and `UTM Source`, each with a **Filter options** button.

    Click **Filter options** on the `Country` row. The dialog "Which options appear here?" opens. Choose **Only specific options I choose**. Every option starts ticked. Untick `ca` (Canada) and `uk` (United Kingdom), so only `us` is left, and click **Save Filter**. The `Country` row's button now reads "Showing 1 of 3 options". Close the sheet with Escape or its **X**. The row's **Field options** cell now reads "1 field customized".

    Repeat for `Social Campaigns` and `Ad Campaigns`. Then click **Save changes**. The filters are stored only when you save, and the message "Workspace updated successfully" confirms it. From now on, `Country` in a new US Team submission offers only `us`. See [Workspace-level option filters](/reference/field-reference-overrides#workspace-level-option-filters).

    Other teams get their own scoped workspace the same way. Create `Canada Team` and `UK Team`, assign the three taxonomies to each, and limit `Country` to `ca` and `uk`. Each additional workspace counts toward your plan's workspace limit.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Check your work

* The `Marketing` governance model has three taxonomies. `Email Campaigns` and `Ad Campaigns` have eleven fields each, from `Destination URL` to `Short URL`. `Social Campaigns` has the same eleven, then `QR Code`.
* In each taxonomy, `UTM Medium` offers one medium: `email`, `social`, or `cpc`.
* The Draft/Publish pill reads **Up to date**.
* The `US Team` workspace has all three taxonomies assigned, with **Require review** off.
* Optional: in US Team, `Country` offers only `us` on all three forms. If you also created `Canada Team` and `UK Team`, each has the three taxonomies and offers only `ca` or `uk`.

## Next up

You have three published forms in the `US Team` workspace, each offering only its own medium. In [Part 8: Your first submission](/tutorial/08-first-submission), you fill in the Email Campaigns form and turn your first submission into records with live short URLs. For option filters on their own, see the [filter options per taxonomy recipe](/recipes/filter-options-per-taxonomy).
